TWO MORE TO ONTARIO FINAL PLAYDOWN

Two Annandale members, Gord Norton and Warren Leslie, competed in the Regional Seniors Playdown at the Dixie Curling Club January 28 and 29 with 3 time Canadian Seniors Champion, Bob Turcotte of Ajax. Gord Norton plays lead, second is Warren Leslie, Bob Turcotte skips and Roy Weigand is vice. The team is playing out of Scarboro Golf & Curling Club. In the Regional, they lost the A side final, went to the B side and won it, and now they advance to the Ontario finals February 22 - 26 at the Simcoe Curling Club. One of 8 teams there will represent the province at the Canadian finals March 17 -24 in Abbotsford, B.C.
The annual Robbie Burns Funspiel on January 28 went well at Annandale. Barb Godfrey's team scored a rare 8 ender. First place in the 'spiel was Team Joly, second went to Team Anderson, and there was a three way tie for third to teams McPherson, Ferris, and Knautz. Everyone had a great time, the food was great, ice was good, bar staff was wonderful, and everyone liked the prizes.
An Annandale Bantam Boys team is headed for the Ontario curling finals in Galt February 8 to 11. Team members are Andre Lima with Evan Heaslip, Dylan Pierce, David Dearness and coach Renee Lalonde. Last Sunday at youth curling, the team was presented with a cheque to assist them with funds for the provincial.
A Ladies Olympic Skins Bonspiel is on the calendar for February 11. It includes a continental breakfast, two eight end games, lunch and cash prizes. The organizers are looking for more entries.
The Gore Mutual Schoolgirls regional playdown is to be held at the Toronto Granite Club February 4 - 5. Four Annandale members who curl for Pickering High School will be competing. The team consists of Nicole Gardener, Kaitlin Jewer, Vanessa Aune, and Alison Gardener with teacher/coach Ms. Gorecki.
