Sunset Applet

Christmas in Australia is a lot different than in the northern hemi-sphere. The weather being so hot about 30-40 deg C makes the activities we engage in a lot different.

Christmas dinner is sometimes traditional, for example Turkey, Ham, Plum Pudding, Mince Tarts and that sort of thing.  But sometime we also have a cold Christmas dinner, salads, cold chicken, ham, and fruit salad and pavlova (a soft meringue type dessert) and cheese cakes for dessert.  When it is 40 deg C the last thing you feel like eating is a very hot meal.   Over the Christmas period we love to spend as much time outdoors as possible.

Christmas is a time for families to enjoy each others company at the beach and enjoying the many National Parks which we have here.

We sometimes just like to lay on the beach like these Sea Lions at Kangaroo Island South Australia!

As you walk though the National Parks and enjoy the peaceful surroundings you often feel closer to the Creator.  I often think of the lines of the Hymn

`How great thou art'

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder

Condsider all the works, Thy hands have made,

I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,

Thy pow'r thu'out the universe displayed:

Then sings my soul my Saviour God to Thee

How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

Then sings my soul my Saviour God to Thee

How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

Other times it is good to walk in the cool forest in the Mountains and enjoy God's creation, and wonder at the birds and the flowers.

When thru the woods and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees,

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur

And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze

Marvel at the mosses and the tree ferns, stand in quietness and enjoy the Creators creation.
