Finding Your Family Roots, A Self-Study Genealogy Course for Beginners

Newspapers & Cemeteries

Searching for your family roots can be a lot of fun. You'll meet new people, see new places and discover something about who you are. We became interested in genealogy when we attempted to fill in the family tree in our wedding book. This showed us how little we knew about our family. Over the years we have collected a large amount of information.

We especially found that obituaries in newspapers and cemetery tombstones were good sources. This started us on the road to collecting obituaries and cemetery recordings. We felt this information could be of use to other researchers. For descriptions of our information sources click the links on the left. If you are looking for names and dates, there are too many to list here, so please send me an e-mail, and I will look them up in my databases. There is no charge for this service, but you may make a donation using PayPal.

Barrhead was founded in 1927, and has a population of approximately 4200. The Barrhead Leader is the local newspaper. It was established in 1928 and is published weekly. It covers a large area surrounding the Town of Barrhead.
