Sarnia, Ontario (2006 population 71,419) is located at the southern end of Lake Huron.
It is a busy port and one of Canada's principal centers for refining petroleum.
Sarnia's Anglican churches are in the Deanery of Lambton in the Archdeaconry of Kent/Lambton of the Diocese of Huron. The Ven. Paul Millward of Christ Church, Chatham has been Archdeacon of Kent/Lambton since June 2011. The Rev. Canon Nick Wells, co-incumbant of All Saints, Sarnia, has been Regional Dean of Lambton since September 2010. The first Anglican church in Sarnia, St. Paul's (a red brick building on London Road) was built at his own expense, by Captain Richard Emeric Vidal (1791-1861), a retired naval officer. Alexander MacKenzie was the contractor, afterwards Prime Minister of Canada. |
