The village of Churston is situated about two miles from Brixham. It's a quiet, idyllic village surrounded by fields. The annual steam rally is hosted in one of the fields alongside the main road and is a popular summertime event where steam enthusiasts bring along their engines (some small, some huge) and spend a weekend showing off these fantastic machines. There is also a lot of vintage car owners aswell as military vehicle owners who - like the steam engine enthusiasts - bring their vehicles along to show to the public. Brixham Battery Heritage Group (of which I am a member) were at the rally this year with all sorts of WW2 vehicles and hardware to show off aswell as a planned 'show' involving a squad of Germans assaulting the British soldiers in their vehicles within the display arena. Of course, I was quick to grab my camera and make my way over to the rally to enjoy the action. Fortunately the weather was fantastic and it turned out to be a really good day.
Below are the photographs I took whilst at the rally of the various decommisioned vehicles and mock-trenches etc, aswell a few of me travelling to Brixham Battery in the back of a British Austin Army truck! I also photographed the 'German assault' show the guys put on for the audience.
