Back in early November 2003 a friend and I walked around Lulworth artillery ranges in the county of Dorset. As we spent the whole weekend in Dorset, it also gave us time to visit Bovington tank museum which is sited not far from Lulworth ranges. The range walk was fantastic and I really enjoyed it - espacially the battered tanks, pillboxes and targets that had obviously taken a repeated shelling over God knows how long! The walk was around 7-8 miles and we got to see some really magnificent parts of Dorset coastline. The day after the walk we visited the tank museum and spent a good few hours walking around the exhibits. I was surprised at how comprehensive their collection of armour was and took many photos of the WW2-era tanks (of course!). I loved the King Tiger - very imposing! Below are photos I took both around the range and in the tank museum. They are in chronological order. |
