The more I learn..the more I realize how little I know about myself....and others. I continue to learn.
What your head knows, your heart doesn't always remember.....
An old/new friend showed this quote to me. It brought tears to my eyes.
"Never let success hide its emptiness from you, achievement its nothingness, toil its desolation. And so...keep alive the incentive to push on further, that pain in the soul which drives us beyond ourselves...Do not look back. And do not dream about the future, either. It will neither give you back the past, nor satisfy your other daydreams. Your duty, your reward—your destiny—are here and now."
Dag Hammarskjöld (1905–1961), Swedish statesman and diplomat, 1961.
"Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people move our souls to dance.
They awaken us to understandings with the passing whisper of their wisdom.
Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon.
They stay in our lives for awhile, leave footprints on our hearts,
and we are never, ever the same."
I'd like to dedicate this previous quote to some very special people. To Kelly & Todd who reflect the essence of the quote in its entirety. Kelly died on February 7, 2006 and now more than ever can I say that the above quote could never be more true. I can only remember the times and the feelings in my mind. Knowing that she'll never be physically in my presence. I dedicate the SHINING LIGHT poem to Kelly. How could I have known that when I wrote it would be so apt at this time.
MY FRIEND TAZ!
This picture is etched in my mind. It will live there forever. It will always remind me that home is where the heart is. It was my home for a short & sweet time and being there brought me contentment & a feeling of peace. My friend Greg commented that "It sure looks like a corner of Paradise there. You'll carry this trip in your soul forever." Yes I will...I speant another 2 weeks there over New Years 2000 and another Summer visit and funny! but it was still like "coming home" for me *smiles*. The pictures I took on the links below were taken with a disposable camera and posted on the Internet by Blacks Camera.
The Shining light is gone,
the joyful presence
the happy spark
the warm glow....
Sometimes I go back
Sometimes I think I hear
Sometimes I think I smell
all those familiar things.
But I'm quickly snapped back
So I can go on.........
A quote from an Episode of the TV Series MILLENIUM has a little girl saying "My Daddy always says...It's not what you've done. It's what you're gonna do." Let us all remember this and take each day at a time knowing this in our Hearts.
"Writing is a voice that calls us from dreams, that peeks out of the corner of our eyes when we think no one is looking, the longing that breaks our hearts even when we think we should be happiest, and to which we cannot give a name."...A quote from JUDY COLLINS..
"I did not know what to say to him. I felt awkward and blundering. I did not know how I could reach him, where I could overtake him and go on hand in hand with him once more. It is such a secret place, the land of tears." A quote from THE LITTLE PRINCE by Antoine de Saint Exupery...one of my favourite books and one every man, woman & child should read...
More from THE LITTLE PRINCE
So the little prince tamed the fox. And when the hour of his departure drew near -
"Ah," said the fox, "I shall cry."
"Its your own fault," said the little prince. "I never wished you any harm; but you wanted me to tame you..."
"Yes, that is so," said the fox.
"But now you are going to cry!" said the little prince.
"Yes, that is so," said the fox.
"Then it has done you no good at all!"
"It has done me good," said the fox, "because of the colour of the wheat fields." And then he added: "Go and look again at the roses. You will understand now that yours is unique in all the world. Then come back to say goodbye to me, and I will make you a present of a secret."
The little prince went away, to look again at the roses.....And when he went back to meet the fox.
"Goodbye," he said.
"Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."...."It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."...."Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose...."
"Life is made up of small comings and goings and for everything we take with us, we leave a part of ourselves behind" A quote from one of my all time favourite Movies THE SUMMER OF 42....an allegory...& if you don't know what that means...look it up!...LOL!
I was a Proud Poet of the week in 1997, on The Poetry Super Highway. A great sight for poets and the Poet of the week games go on :) If you're a poet you should enter, or a least see the site. There is still a regular newsletter and lots of activity.
This was awarded to me by someone I've never met and I cherish it.
