Story of the 1/2 Week

Is It Half Empty or Half Full?

Week of April 16, 2006

from http://soli.inav.net/~catalyst/Humor/full.htm . Note: if you aren't familiar with this personality classification, you can read about it here.

INTJ thinks: Glass is made from silicon dioxide, heated to a temperature of ...

INTP: The glass is full -- half water, half air!

ENTP: Voila! 0.157 litres of dihydrogen oxide, prepared by micro-gnomes.

ENTJ: Hey! This is a beer glass, not a water glass!

INFJ: This glass of water is a metaphor for my life.

INFP: weebaby is INFP But look! A crystalline vessel, filled with shimmering, life-giving nectar!

ENFP: Whooeee! Water fight!

ENFJ: There's more than enough for friends to share.

ISFJ thinks: I bet my friend would like to have some water right now ...

ISFP (Holds up glass of water, tilts it from side to side, wiggles finger in it, licks finger, grins slightly, moves on.)

ESFP: There's a glass of water! You know, it's healthy to drink a lot of water! Why, I remember when I was growing up, we used to ...

ESFJ: I can't believe someone would leave this dirty glass out here! Clean up this mess right now!

ISTJ: It's half empty now, and it wouldn't surprise me if it dried up completely.

ISTP: So? It's water. Big deal!

ESTP: You call that a glass of water? Why, back where I come from, ...

ESTJ: Hey! Whose job was it to fill up this glass?

Prayer of the Month

Single Mother's Prayer to Become a Godly Wife

Dear God,
I thank you and praise your holy and righteous name. May my prayer exalt you and your holy ordinance of marriage.
God I wish to serve you and I believe in my heart you have predestined me to become joined in this life with my perfect mate.
As I am your vessel, I wish to become a Godly Wife. Lord, give me the grace, faith and patience to diligently respect my mate as my friend. Jesus grant me the wisdom to understand his thoughts, plans and dreams.
Holy Father you know I am a single mother who is forever focused on the well-being of my children. I'll need your divine intercession to help me transform into a Godly Wife.
Lord help me to be softer and more accepting of my mate's decisions and actions. Give me an attentive ear and a willing supportivespirit to encourage my soul mate.
In the name of Jesus, bless us with sweet words to communicate with each other. Complimenting one another in thought and deed.
Heavenly Father, I know this will be a great honor as I anticipate marrying an anointed man. A devout Christian who ministers and teaches others about Jesus Christ. A kind man who loves the Lord and is committed to serving others.
I pray you protect us from our pride, vanity and past frustrations. Please have mercy, giving us courage, maturity and faith to cherish our commitment to each other and to you. Bless us with an abundance of peace, joy, happiness and prosperity.
Unite our two hearts as one in love forever. May our blissful marriage glorify you, O God.
In Jesus name I pray - AMEN

Musical Selection of the Month

My World
by Trout Fishing in America
The problem with most kids music is that after the second time you hear "Bananaphone" you're ready to slit your wrists. Not so with Trout Fishing in America! This is one band you can listen to over and over and over and still enjoy singing along with the music. Children ages 4 to 100 enjoy the music; your teens will probably say that they don't, but you'll walk in on them playing it and dancing with their little brother! Folksy, blusey and country-like, the music is infectious and the lyrics don't talk down children. The most infectious songs are the title, "My World", plus "Baby's Got the Car Keys" (which are in her diaper), "My Hair Had a Party Last Night", which explains why it looks like that when you wake up in the morning. Trout Fishing CDs are by far my favorite gift to give children, and parents can listen to it on long car trips without going insane!

DVD of the Month

The Day the Earth Stood Still

The Day the Earth Stood Still
starring Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal

Too good to correctly be called a Grade-B sci-fi film, The Day the Earth Stood Still is still relevant in today's world. I vividly remember watching it as a small child; even then it made an impact on me. And if I ever get three cats, their names will be Klaata, Barada and Nickto! Man! I love this film!

Recipe of the Month

Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic

4-5 pounds chicken pieces (legs, thighs, breasts)
About 40 plump garlic cloves (3-4 heads)
2/3 cup olive oil, preferably extra-virgin
2 leeks, white and pale green parts separated from dark green tops (reserve tops for the bouquet garni, below)
1 tablespoon mixed dried herbs: thyme, oregano, savory, rosemary (any two or three)
2 teaspoons salt
1 lemon

For the bouquet garni:
2 ribs of celery, split lengthwise and trimmed to about 6 inches in length
Green portions of the two leeks, split lengthwise and trimmed to about 6 inches in length
6 stems flat-leaf parsley
2 bay leaves
1 sprig tarragon

For the paste seal:
1/2 cup flour
1/3 cup warm water

Preheat oven to 350F.

Slice the white and pale green parts of the leeks into thin rounds (reserving the green portions for the bouquet garni, below), and spread them in the bottom of the baking dish.

Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl. Add the olive oil, dried herbs, salt, pepper, and garlic cloves. Stir with your hands to evenly coat the chicken and garlic cloves with oil and seasonings.

Assemble the bouquet garni by tying the celery, leek greens, bay leaves and herbs into a bundle.

Place the bouquet garni in the baking dish, and add the seasoned chicken-garlic mixture over and around the bouquet.

Cut the lemon in half, squeeze the juice over the chicken, being careful to remove the seeds. Add the squeezed lemon halves to the baking dish.

Make the flour paste seal. To 1/2 cup flour, add about 1/3 cup warm water and combine. Add more water if necessary to form a pizza-dough consistency. Using your hands, roll the dough into long cylinders, 1/2-inch diameter.

Seal the baking dish. Cover the rim of the pan with pieces of dough, overlapping as necessary. Firmly place the lid on the dish.

Bake at 350 F for 1 hour and forty-five minutes.
YIELD: 4 servings

Link of the Month

This is the best wasting-time site on the internet! I have four Neopets: WeeGriff the Eyrie, WeeGeck the Techo, WeeMissouri the Moehog and Daisy_Rosner121 the Kau. Since I'm a little anal-retentive, I have a definate MO when I visit the site. I "activiate" a different pet every day. If the Snowager is sleeping, I go and try to steal something from him first. Then I hop on over to Tyrannia to grab a slice of Omelette. Then I go to Faerieland and spin the Wheel of Excitement. If my pet needs healing, then I head to the Healing Springs. Ater that, it's a trip to Mystery Island to play Tombola. I take my pet to visit Coltzan's Shrine in the Lost Desert and then we spin the Neopian Fruit Machine. If I have time, I also go to the Games room and play three rounds of Dice-a-Roo. Then it's off to the Neopian Bank to collect my interest, and deposit any Neopoints I have over and above the 1,000NP I carry with me at all times. After all of this traveling, my pets are pretty hungry, so I feed my three non-active pets with the slice of omelette I picked up earlier, and I feed my active pet whatever other food items I have on hand.
