THE BORN BROKE HORSE, PROMISE JENILYN (Jenkyn x Promise LawMaya)
It was a fine day in March of 2005 when my visiting granddaughter, Katy, then 11, decided she would like to take a short ride.   She had ridden a visiting mare, Serenity, the day before, so I told Katy to "just go get Serenity" while I was busy chatting with a neighbor.  Katy saddled and bridled the mare and I told her "just climb right on; she's fine".   I noticed the bridle didn't quite fit the mare today, and she was spitting at the bit; I figured Katy hadn't picked up the same bridle as she had yesterday,, so I just adjusted it - she'd be fine.
However, the mare seemed pretty sluggish today.   I was concerned for a bit that she was a little "off", but then, she really seemed okay, just "mentally slow".  Okay, instead of just riding, Katy can do some balancing exercises while I lead her - "windmill", twist arms and body, lean this way, lean that way.   Get her to turn with exaggerated body movement.  The mare handled all this just fine - albeit seeming to wonder what on earth we were doing.  I decided to lunge the mare and she just didn't know a thing--we were standing by the pasture fence, wondering at this--when we looked in the pasture--THERE was Serenity!!!   Who did we have??
We had Jennie--
The Born Broke

So, in 2006, when Jennie is three, Katy (12 and green as grass) gets serious about training Jennie---her first training effort, but not her last!
First---Getting To Know You--------
Getting to Know All About You----------
Three weeks before the show---still thinking about going Western
The show itself, trying out English, - Grandma was SO proud of both of them.
Below are Jennie, Katy, and the neighbor girl and Katy's friend, Kasey, celebrating Jennie's third birthday.  A special thanks to Kasey for being Katy's "Crew" at the horse show.  (You can't see it, but they are sharing birthday cake with her.)

They made it! Doing  FINE!
In 2007 Katy and Jennie actually WON some ribbons - and Jennie went home to Kansas with Katy and they went to shows there.
