    My 1977 Chevy Silverado Stepside
350 engine, Ch-456 4 speed transmission, 205 part time transfer case, 373 gear ratio

Welcome: I created this web page to document the restoration of my truck and hopefully help and receive help from other 73-87 chevy truck fans on parts sources and tips.

Why this truck: I bought this truck because not only was it stepside but 4sp and 77 year. The reason I like 77 was that this year had the yellow inlay on the trim, the interior  had wood grain and chevy came out with options like, power windows, power door locks, hood ornament, hood lock to name a few.

Condition of this truck: Its pretty sad, pictures looks better than in person. Core support under battery is rotted, front inner fender wells are rotted, but the doors, fenders and bed are in great shape. The interior is pretty bad shape too, door panels sun rotted, carpet is bad, wood grain dash bezel is missing, but the dash pad and remaining wood grain is in excellent shape.   As far as the trim goes, for some reason the emblems, cab molding, fender wheel moldings and rear bumper were removed. The running gear apear to be in excellent shape, it has a fairly new motor in it and the trani and t-case appear to be in good working order.

Restoration plans: My basic plan is to restore the truck in three phases. Phase one will be to fix a few minor mechanical problems and some electrical problems. The second phase will be the body work, this will be the biggest part (as typical). My plan is to sand and  prime starting with the bed, then moving up to the doors and fenders, luckily there is very little body work required on these. Then onto the cab, I need to fix minor rust in the corners, and fill in some holes drilled in the lower part of the dash. Then the third phase will be the interior work, my plan there is new door panels, carpet, headliner. I need to find a few used parts too, I need a Silverado dash bezel and a new shift knobs.

    Restoration Phases:

    Phase one: Mechanical and Electrical

    Phase two: Body and Paint

Phase three: Interior (project hasn't gotten there yet)
