The Globalchart Top 100
Since July 2004, the Globalchart
had been a Top 100 that has been published on our message board. The
songs in the critical Top 50 had been published and discussed on our
website. As of our August 6/06 chart – ironically, the 8th
Anniversary of the Globalchart! – we began
publishing the full Top 100 on our website.
The Fastest Riser and Greatest Gainer continue to be
attached to the songs in the Top 50, since the songs between 51 and 100
often move up and down the chart with velocity. The Highest Debut
will be the highest debuting song on the Top 100. Bullets will be
assigned throughout the Top 100. The peak positions and Weeks On
columns are updated to reflect the longevity and peaks on the Top 100.
The Globalchart continues to
be a true bellwether chart to determine the most popular pop songs on
Internet personal chart sites.

2008 M4BCC Awards Winners
A lot of first-time nominees were the big winners on
Awards day on Sunday, January 18. Coldplay picked up 5 Awards, including Best Album for
Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, Best Group, and Globalchart Song of the Year for “Viva La Vida”.
Chris Brown, Leona Lewis and Lady GaGa
got 3 apiece. Brown won for Best
Male Artist, Best American Artist, and Best Collaboration with Jordin Sparks for “No Air”; Lewis snagged Best Pop
Artist, and both Best Pop Song and the M4BCC Listeners’ Choice Award for
record of the year for “Bleeding Love”; and GaGa
triumphed not only for Best Dance Artist (a returning category) and Best
Dance Song for “Just Dance”, but also for Best Female Artist.
Repeat winners Kanye West,
Taylor Swift, and One Republic each won two, as did Welsh singer Duffy,
somewhat by surprise, for both Best Artist from Outside North America and
for Best New Artist. The remaining
new award for 2008 was The Big Buzzz Award, given
to “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz.
Check out the complete thread of events, including all of
the winners, here.
