The Fractured Life Of A Misguided Patriot:

A Treatment-In-Progress For My Version Of A Film Based On "American Terrorist"

Counter

Over the next while, you will find the treatment of my prospective film, based upon the book entitled, "American Terrorist" by Lou Michel and Dan Herbeck. Strangely enough, I had been dead set against turning this book into a television movie. I've since changed my mind and am going to write my own version of "American Terrorist" in celuloid. As I mentioned on my home page, my choice for the actor to portray Tim is Neil Patrick Harris---yes, Doogie Howzer himself. Well, he's grown up since then and bears more than a passing resemblance to McVeigh.

It is my fervent hope that the victims and survivors of the bombing will not be triggered, either with my screenplay or Hollywood's. I am not writing this in order to cause anyone anymore pain. I just want to show people that Tim McVeigh was a very troubled young man who had misguided ideas of how to deal with a government he loathed. I'm not excusing him, by any means, but I am saying that it may help the grieving understand and comprehend just why a formerly law-abiding, gentle and loving person could do such a terrible thing. I want you to know the whole story and if this is disturbing to some, I advise you to refrain from reading my treatment and screenplay and not watch the television movie on McVeigh's life that will surface in the not-too-distant future.

My story and prospective screenplay will be a true and accurate account of Tim's life, his crimes and his death by lethal injection. He will be accompanied by other characters and I wish to stick as closely to the book as I can. Some of you might think that I'm being the ultimate hypocrite, but let me just emphasize that documenting real and compelling events just may bring some measure of closure to all who were affected by the bombing, whereas a blow-by-blow regergetation of "American Terrorist would be extremely distressing and heartbreaking.
