Some mistake us for "murder groupies",
They cast dispersions and elicit disdain for us
They simply do not get it
And likely never will.
Your family is now shuffling through the leaves,
Marking time before they join you in heaven.
The greatest gift they can offer you now,
Is that of fond reflection.
Your detractors curse your special day
And spit upon your memory.
But those of us who held warm thoughts of you you
As the stalwart, stoic soldier's you wore with pride.
Old soldiers, it has long been said
Don't die, but simply fade away.
But the young ones, those who fought for feedom,
Blaze a trail that leads to heaven.
