56. In the conferral of Holy Orders, the clergy of other communions may be invited to be present for reasons of friendship or courtesy. They must not be invited to take leading roles, or share in the imposition of hands.
57. Although Catholic priests may not take an active role in the ordination ceremonies of other Ecclesial Communities, they should accept invitations to be present and may offer gestures of fellowship appropriate to the situation but not be involved in the rite of ordination, e.g., the imposition of hands.
