On May 8th, 1999 Eleven Birthmothers
from all over Florida met to Celebrate
Birthmother's Day at Bok Tower Gardens.
with a Framed Page, a gift from CYNTHIA & the FL Bmom's
of the Oregon "Birthmother's In Support of Open Records"
Ad, that was instrumental in passing the 1998 Oregon Open Birthcertificate's Law, Nov. '98 for Adult Adoptees.
ARLENE, Alana (Sunflower's Leader), & Bonnie
were the organizers behind the Internet signing campaign.
which generated over 500 electronic signatures of Birthmothers
who supported the Oregon Initiative to allow Adult Adoptees
access to their Original Birthcertificates at age 21.
The Full page ad (paid for by Helen Hill) which appeared the
day before the Oregon vote, was in protest of the claims by
anti-open records lobbyists, that birthmothers wanted
confidentiality, & declared for all to see a full list of names of
birthmothers who believe that Adoptees should have the same
Civil Rights as all Non-Adoptees to the Document of their birth.
