Sexing is fairly simple for the most part. Most types of quail have a small difference in colour between male and female. However some types such as white buttons do not have a colour difference. for quail that do not have a notable colour difference other methods can be used. Method 1 colour. Method 2 size. Females are usually a slight bit heavier and or larger when at rest in hand. Method 3 is checking the birds bottom side. A female will simply have a hole. A male will have a smaller hole with a notable vien. As well if you press gently on the male just above the openning a white foam is discharged. |
