Located South-East of Dalhousie. Its post office was named in 1893 after Sir John Douglas Sutherland Campbell, 9th Duke of Argyll and Marquess of Lorne, Governor General of Canada (1878-83). According to the 2001 Canadian census, the population of Lorne is 622.
