EEL RIVER CROSSING




Located South-West of Dalhousie. Eel River Crossing village was named after the river which flows North-East into Bay of Chaleur. According to the 2001 Canadian census, the population of Eel River Crossing is 1,335.

Its post office was named Eel River from 1861 to 1886 when it was then changed to its present name.

In 1783, the river was referred to as Longuil River, a reference to the French word "anguille" meaning "eel".
