THE A1 WAS
WESTERN ELECTRIC'S FIRST COMBINED TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER PHONE. CA. 1924-1928
LEFT WESTERN ELECTRIC A1 WITHOUT A DIAL AND.

RIGHT SAME MODEL WITH A DIAL.  THE A1 WAS THE FIRST
WESTERN ELECTRIC HANDSET PHONE.
LEFT AND CENTER ARE WESTERN ELECTRIC 205S AND AT RIGHT IS A 208.
THE PHONE PICTURED HERE IS A 205.  IT HAS BUTTONS MARKED 1,2,3,H AND L.  I BELIEVE 1,2 AND 3 ARE FOR OUTSIDE LINES, H IS FOR HOLD AND L (LOCAL) IS AN INTERNAL LINE.  THE 208 HAS BUTTONS MARKED 1,2,H,L,B WHICH WOULD STAND FOR LINES 1 AND 2, HOLD, LOCAL (FOR THE INTERNAL LINE) AND BUZZ.  THE TOP PART OF THESE PHONES LOOKS LIKE A 102 CRADLE ON A DIAL CANDLESTICK BASE.  THE CORDS EXIT THE BACK OF THE KEY UNIT.
