LAWSON
Lawson - Frederricka Falls - Start fire trail - return via steps.
Just before you reach Lawson you will see a sign which indicates "traffic lights - prepare to stop" - just after this sign you turn right across the train line -  at the T intersection - Badgery Road turn right - next left into Hughes Ave drive to end and vere left into Fairview Road and right at San Jose Ave - park on the little grassy square where the track begins.
There are no signs on the track forks - this is common in the Blue Mountains, it is no wonder so many people get lost.
Take the left fork and you will come to a fire trail with a gate - if you prefer to walk down hill then climb out via steps take this track - if you would rather walk down the steps and clime out via the fire trail take the track to the left of the gate. This track is signed. When you reach the intersection you will see a sign - right to Fredricka Falls, Echo Bluff and Empire Pass - the track left is to Fairy Falls, St Micheals Falls and Dantes Glen.
All tracks are loops but whether you get the right loop for your walk is anyones guess. The only signs are at the beginning/end of the tracks - the loops criss cross so you may not end up where you thought you were heading for but it is good fun and all the walks are magic. The flora is something to be awed at - from shrubby t-trees and eucalyptus to ferns of all descriptions and the magestic tree fern in all its glory.  There are several creek crossings.  I walked the track after heavy rain - it was very slippery and muddy in places.  It would be a wonderful walk in the summer - take your swimmers for a dip in the cool pools.
Back to the track - I walked down the fire trail to Fredricka Falls - a very beautiful layered falls. Before you cross the creek you will see a tiny track on the left - take this track - admiring the falls from below before continuing on - the track is only one person wide - it is very easy walking on this side of the loop - there are a few steps and creek crossings. About half way you will come to a creek crossing where it is quite deep and you have to cross via the rocks - at this point it looks as if the track has come to a dead end at the creek - if you look carefully across the creek and slightly left you will see the track.  This is a good place for a snack and a dip.  It is not long after this that the climb out starts and all the stone steps which some kind person or people put in to stop erosion give the cardiovascular system and the legs a good workout.
You will come out at the sign I mentioned above take the left track back to the car park or if you still have energy left you may feel and urge to visit Fairy and St Micheals Falls if not come back another day.
