My Corner of Japan

A popular image of Japan is one of exciting, dynamic cities packed to overflowing with millions of people most of whom live in terribly cramped conditions.
Whilst the populations of Tokyo or Osaka might even say that it is a fairly accurate description, there is another side to Japan.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the cities there is another world that is seldom experienced by the casual visitor. It's the world that I live in.

This section of the site is mainly a collection of photographs of my corner of Japan. If you're looking for the newest skyscraper or the latest from Sony, I'm afraid you're in the wrong place.

So where is my corner of Japan?

Japan is divided into two "metropolitan districts" (Tokyo and Osaka ), one "district"( Hokkaido ) and 47 prefectures.

My stamping ground is in the south of Japan in Wakayama prefecture. It's a little town called Mihama which, literally translated, means 'beautiful beach'.

Mihama and it's neighbouring town Gobo have a combined population of about 30,000 people and is surrounded by mountains on three sides and the Pacific Ocean on the fourth.
