Here is a little bit about me:
My name is Delia. I am originally from Elk City, OK, but I now live in Oklahoma City, OK. I live alone, except for 2 cats - Janis Michelle and Gracie Jean - who are the closest to children that I will likely ever have. I am madly in love but do not plan on ever living with or marrying anyone.
When asked to describe who I am as a person, one volunteer offered, among other things, that I am open-minded and that I give 110% to every task I undertake. I think these are both quite accurate.
| One ideal that I hold firmly is that of the liberation of women. I will further clarify that by saying that I am not a follower of the Women's Liberation Movement. I think it's ridiculous and I have nothing to do with it. A liberated woman has nothing to do with that nonsense, she is a woman who has the right to choose how she lives her life and exercises it. That is liberation. In the 50s, women did not have the choice of how to behave. They were expected to stay at home, serve their husbands, raise the children, cook dinner, and to work outside the home was looked down upon. Now, the tables have turned. If a woman wants to stay at home and serve her husband, she is looked down upon. This is no better than society in the 50s. If we are to progress as much as we claim to have, we have to acknowledge that not all women desire to "wear the pants" in the household, and embrace them for it, not condemn them. To do otherwise is to take away a woman's free will, and this is unacceptable. |

| Religious freedom is also dear to my heart. This includes ALL religions, not just the widely accepted ones. I believe that all people - Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Satanic, Druid, Jewish, Agnostic, Atheistic, Wiccan, Catholic, etc - have the right to worship in whatever way they see fit. I believe that God speaks differently to each person, and it is narcissistic for a person to proclaim another's beliefs invalid because they disagree with his own. Any attempt to force one's belief on another can only have self-serving motives and I do not tolerate such attempts from anyone. | |

Constant self-improvement is a necessity for me. I am always seeking knowledge, and I think that too many people, in general, are content with remaining stagnant in the area of education. Just because you aren't in school, anymore, don't think that you have nothing more to learn!
These are the three beliefs that are the basis for the majority of other beliefs that I have, so I'll stop with them.
Now, I'll share some lighter-hearted information about what makes me tick; I can say it all in three simple words:
Rock and Roll
This is truly my passion. All music is heals the soul of someone, and rock and roll is the doctor of mine. A rock and roll song will pull me out of a bad mood or painful experience quicker than anything. I also firmly stand on this: There is never a bad time for Led Zeppelin or Janis Joplin.
how about a cheer
for all those bad girls
and all the boys
that play that rock and roll
they love it like you love jesus
it does the same thing
to their souls
~ Tom Petty
Now you know a little about who I am, and what gets me motivated.
