A long time between updates! But some new additions - the opening of "General Quarters", the long awaited official residence for the GGC's commanding officers (and the cause of some not-inconsiderable friction between us at that!), and a chance for everyone to meet the staff at Aby's Lair!
And perhaps we can get something happening for Christmas this year? Who knows!

Happy New Year!! 2003 has gotten off to a flying start, with the grand opening of Kay's Ice Palace! Well done, Captain Kay, on your incredible work on this project. It is a wonderful addition to our facility.
We've also recently welcomed back some old friends and made some new ones! Check out the Staff Roster to see who's who in the Gutter!

Almost a year between updates! Good gracious!!
But it hasn't been a lost year - some good things have happened.
This year, the GGC won two awards for Wed design, and the awards are now on the Facility entrance (after a shamefully long delay - RL can really get in the way!). Thanks to Rubydragonfly and Clara for these! And if you feel the need, please feel free to promote this site for any other awards - it's a group effort after all!
And we finally got the GGC mailing list talking - well, a little bit, but it's a start!
And as a result, we've got some new fic to share - in both the Daniel AND Jack gutters - woohoo!
Hopefully there will be more updates soon - Captain Kay is busy building an ice hockey rink, of all things! So stay tuned!

Once again, a long while between updates! The good news is - this is probably worth the wait!
It is with great pleasure that the management of the Gutter Gate Command announce the long-awaited opening of Major Aby's Beach House!! Hope you enjoy it!
There's still work to be done on the beach house - look out for information on the clones Aby has roped into helping her run the place!
There's a new voting link on the main page - click on it please!
And I know I've been promising that new story by Nephthys for ages now - but the reason for the delay is hijacking of the story by someone unexpected! Hopefully it will be finished in the next few months. Nephthys assures me it will be worth the wait! She's off on an extended "writing sabbatical" (read: vacation) and hopes to achieve great things while she's gone!

Well, it's been a while, but your Colonel pleads inability to get near a computer! However, with "his 'n' hers" computers now available (despite some glitches still to be sorted out!), the situation will hopefully be better. Expect more frequent updates if nothing else!!
Not much of a change this time - but certainly a huge leap forward in selff-promotion. I've added two voting banners to the facility entrance, and I'd encourage you all to click on them to your heart's content!!
We are getting lots of visitors, so let's get them working for us!
Nothing more to add today, as I'm about to head off and start work on the long overdue construction of Aby's Lair - which will be the next big thing at the GGC. Watch this space!
Oh, and Nephthys is almost finished the last part of the "Daniel by Candlelight" series - look out for that one in coming weeks!

Wow! A marathon effort here at the GGC lately, with a slew of changes being made!!
We've been working hard at Major Gee's Guest House, and are proud to announce the opening of the staff accommodation and rest and recreation facilities!!
We have also established a new Communications Centre for the base - check it out!

That's it for updates at the moment, mostly because I'm heading back to my "other" job next week! However, I have it on good authority from Nephthys that she has two new stories almost finished. One is the coda to her Daniel by Candlelight series, and the other is a naughty little Jack and Sam piece! And once she's done with them, she has some other ideas for Daniel and Ammonet and Jack and Janet. What a sewer of a mind that woman has!!
Anyway, those will hopefully be coming to you soon.

It's been a while since the last update, and it's the first day of my much anticipated vacation, so here goes nothing!
Staff roster updated
Apologies again to Captain Kay, the Staff Roster has now been updated to reflect her originally assigned rank of Captain.
Changes to the Facility Entrance
Since Major Samantha Jackson has been found, I've removed the request to advise her of the new location of the GGC Command.
I've also decided to remove the reference to possibly being able to encounter Michael Shanks in the Gutter. This was done for two reasons - the first being I couldn't remember why I said it in the first place! I know Nephthys isn't planning on writing any stories featuring Mr Shanks, and I don't think anyone else is - or at least they haven't mentioned it to me. If it happens, then I'll create a separate gutter for it.
The other reason is that I've decided to "go public" with the Gutter. I've applied to list the GGC with the Stargate Fanfiction webring, and I plan to "recruit" members and contributions from one or two mailing lists I belong to.
The fiction we have here is too good not to be shared, and I'd like to encourage others to contribute stories to it. Let's face it, we're currently a small group, which means we can't populate the gutters all on our own, and I'd like to make sure we don't stagnate, but keep growing and expanding.
Please let me know if you have major problems with that - if you'd like your stories removed, for example, or if you'd like your stories included so they can be hopefully more widely read.
I don't see the facility itself being changed as a result of adding new members. The Guest House and other locations are uniquely "ours", and are intended as tributes and reminders of good times and excellent chats. I even have some more pages planned based on those times - hopefully they'll be added over the next few weeks.

Nephthys has been writing again! She has one story almost completed - not a Daniel one, but a short and bitter-sweet Sam story (warning - it's a Sam and Jack theme, just in case that isn't your cup of tea). I hope to have her new story posted in the next couple of days.
She also has some others in the works, and assures me that now she has more time she'll continue with her writing. So keep an eye out!
And if any of you have stories waiting to be posted - let me know. Major Abydos, perhaps you could send me "Visitation" - I currently don't have it and would LOVE to post it.

Well it’s been just over a week since I put the new pages up, and notified everyone of the event!!
The response has been terrific, with members past and present crawling out of the woodwork to let me know they are still alive.
Major Jackson found alive and well!
I am very pleased to be able to report that Major Samantha Jackson is no longer Missing in Action – she’s found!!! Major Jackson has been busy on other things (and apparently with other men – tch tch, to cheat on poor Dr Jackson!) but is keen to get back into the swing of things.
Major Jackson, you should sign up to the GGC mailing lists (found on the Welcome page and on the Gutter pages, or see below) so we can keep track of you! Never knew someone to have so many email addresses (except maybe Major Cruz!) – must be so she can keep dangling all those men on a string!!
The Colonel’s new email address
Speaking of email addresses, since we moved this facility, I’ve got a new one of my own – colonelnepi@yahoo.com – it helps me to keep official Gutter Gate Command business separate from everything else that’s going on in my life. I’ll be adding an email link to the Welcome page sometime soon – as soon as I can find a neat graphic to go with it!!
Kay is present and correct!
And our dear Kay also responded to the call. Now Kay doesn’t officially have a rank in the GGC as yet – so I’m enlisting her!! Congratulations, Airman First Class Kay, you are on your way!!
Worries over unauthorised personnel accessing the facility
When I originally sent out the word that the GGC had been re-activated, I used an old mailing list, which I thought I had changed. Alas, I hadn’t changed it – or if I did, I didn’t save the changes. (Yes, your colonel is human – she DOES make mistakes!) As a result, the notification went to a number of people from the dim dark past, some of whom are, shall we say, persona non grata around here as a result of past actions.
No further notifications will be sent to these people – I’ll be using my new email address for any further updates, and I’m only transferring email addresses of the trusted members of the GGC to that address book. I apologise if I worried any of you when you saw the list of addressees on that original email, and I hope you will be reassured that it was never my intent to invite those people back to the fold.
Join the mailing lists!!!
One way I can control the flow of information about the pages is to release information via the mailing lists. But I need you all to sign up to them!!! So far, only Major Cruz has signed up – thank you Major Cruz!!
Just to remind you, the Official GGC list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/officialggclist) is for general correspondence, and the other list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/officialggc) is for gutter stories and story ideas or threads. A warning though – Yahoo Groups policy states that any list with adult content must be categorised as an adult list. I know you all – discussions about stories will definitely have adult content!! So, please restrict adult discussions to the story list – the Official GGC List will be used for updates and general news.
The lists are private and membership is restricted – I have to approve all members, so you can be sure that no-one who I do not personally know and trust will become a member of those lists.
That’s about all the news I have for now. I hope you are all well and happy and investigating gutters to your heart’s content!!
