Secroten
and Krolignen were the elder gods of magic, springing from darkness and blessing
the Void with their conflicting lights. The
two brothers hated each other, one reveling in joy at his birth, the other
rebelling against his very existence and that of every living thing.
They fought great wars, the sparks from their mighty swords creating the
stars and their lost flesh and blood creating the planets and nebulae.
The two brothers were equal in every way and neither could ever defeat
the other. The sounds of their battles awakened their sleeping brothers and
sisters who seeing their brothers so-fighting, took one side or the other.
Suddenly, in a final blast of creation, the universe birthed its last
god, the Warrior God Perrikus, who sacrificed himself to destroy Krolignen and
preserve the universe which had birthed him.
Perrikus’ body fell until, held aloft by Pelor, it twirled until it
formed Umelle, the world that houses Yr.
The Island Kingdom of Yr began life as a small sub-country of Salusa, the cradle of civilization. When Salusa was decimated by the Great Surge, the remaining populace immigrated to Yr and Arliensterre, the Eastern Continent. For 3 decades following the Great Surge people hunted wizards and sorcerers mercilessly, banning the use of magic of any kind, for fear of repeating the horrible fate which decimated Salusa and changed the very face of the earth. Eventually, with the dawn of a brighter era, people forgave their mages, whom blessed the land with beneficial magic in the service of the gods.
