Your are using the internet when you're reading this, viewing this webpage in a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, or perhaps Safari or Opera.
In more geeky terms what is happening is your browser is opening a socket based connetion to port 80 of a remote host, a server and using the HTTP application protocol to retrieve the web page.
